As a child, my family spent many nights with my Dad playing piano, while my sisters and I sang, danced and eventually began playing various instruments.
While in the 6th grade, I made my first "official" stage appearance. I played wash-tub bass in a talent show. I didn't win, but did get my picture in the newspaper.
I began my professional musical career at the age of 13, as the lead singer and bassist of my own band. We played for teen dances, class reunions, enlisted men's clubs, local concerts and won several "battle of the bands".
At 16, I started hosting a local radio show on Saturday afternoons where my band & other performers were often featured.
Just out of high school, I began touring the United States with my show band. This in turn led to an appearance on the Tonight Show as well as other TV & radio shows. Then I began an string of Canadian and European concerts. I was also honored to perform in a USO/DOD tour that included a performance to United Nation Troops representing 51 nations. |
